Rev'd Stephen Burrow
Foundation Governor

What do you do for a living?

I am an ordained priest, and currently the Rector of the Benefice of Heyford with Stowe IX Churches and Flore with Brockhall. Prior to ordination I worked in the distribution industry for twenty-five years

What skills and experience do you bring to the governing body?

As a Church Foundation Governor, I hope to help the school develop and demonstrate its Christian character.

What do you get out of the role personally?

I get a great deal out of my role. I enjoy taking assemblies, and being part of the Open the Book Team, bringing Bible stories to the schoolchildren, and helping them explore the Christian values, and build on the foundations of faith.

What committees are you involved in or what specific statutory responsibilities do you fulfil on behalf of FGB?

I’m currently on the Finance and Premises Committee and the Performance Management and Personnel Committee

What type of interactions with school do you have?

I’m in school two or three times a month to lead Monday morning assemblies or play my part in the Open the Book Team, alongside other members of the Flore Christian Partnership. I’m on hand at the church for the school’s end of term services at Christmas, Easter and the Leavers’ Service.

What top tip would you give to anyone thinking about becoming a governor?

This is a challenging role, but it’s also exciting and rewarding. Give it a go!
